A tasty win!

July 28, 2010

Recently I won a prize at C. Beth Blog because she was celebrating her second “blog-iversary”.  After I won, Beth and I discussed what my edible prize should be.  She makes some fantastic seasoned nuts, so that is the prize I chose.

And last week my prize arrived — her wonderful Sweet and Spicy Roasted Nuts!

This is only a small portion of the nuts Beth actually sent because the package was here when I arrived home hot and hungry from a hot, humid round of golf,  so I immediately sat down and enjoyed some (alot!) of these with a glass of ice tea.  Delicious.  Thank you, Beth!

Here is Beth’s recipe for these nuts (which she adapted from someone else’s recipe so that they can be made in the crock pot).   Beth also makes three other variations of seasoned nuts which you can view here.

Sweet and Spicy Roasted Nuts (in the crock pot)

4 cups raw nuts
1/4 cup honey
3/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp kosher salt
cooking spray

Spray CrockPot with cooking spray. Put nuts, honey, and cayenne pepper in CrockPot, and stir to coat nuts well. Turn CrockPot on high, and cover. Cook for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring every 10 minutes. (Set a timer!) Nuts are done when they are
almost crunchy enough–but they will cook further after removing them from the CrockPot, so don’t overcook. Before removing from CrockPot, add sugar and kosher salt, and toss so that all the spices stick to the nuts. Immediately put nuts on wax paper to cool.

It’s so sweet to win!  And sometimes just slightly fattening.

To Be Called “Sister” Is an Honor

March 6, 2009

Lynn at Queen of the Castle Recipes has given me this award.

Probably the aspect I have enjoyed most about blogging is the wonderful relationships that I have developed with other bloggers.  In some ways, they really do become like sisters, and, really, can any of us have too many of those?

So, thank you, Lynn for including me in your “sisterhood.”  I am honored.

I don’t pass on awards because I don’t want to have to pick just some of the wonderful bloggers I know, so I will just invite any of you ladies to take this as your own, because there isn’t one of you I wouldn’t be honored to have belong to my “sisterhood.”

I Humbly Accept these Awards

Mrs. 4444 at Half Past Kissin’ Time (my all-time favorite name for a blog) has given me this award.   Thank you so much, Mrs. 4444.  I appreciate it very much.

And, my lovely daughter, Jenny at Chased by Children has given me one too!  Thank you, daughter of mine.  You are special and so is receiving this award.

My Post on Blogger’s Annex Today!

October 1, 2008

BTW, a post I wrote last year about Hubby and his aversion to flowers as gifts, is today’s post on Blogger’s Annex.  This is the second time they’ve published one of my posts, and it feels just as good this time as it did last!

It’s So Rewarding to be Awarded an Award!

September 25, 2008

I want to thank New Diva for presenting me with two awards!

I told DD that I was thrilled  to receive my first blogging awards, EVER!  And then DD told me they AREN’T my first awards, because she has given me blogging awards.  Hmmm.  I don’t remember those.  I guess that’s because I didn’t know what to DO with them.  I’m a little bit better at blogging now, so I can be a little more gracious in my acceptance.

So, New Diva, thank you sincerely for these two awards, even though, apparently, they aren’t the first I’ve received, as I first thought.  Well, I reallllly appreciate them anyway!

I like the idea of “making someone’s day”

I’m not realllly sure I qualify as a “kick ass” blogger, but if New Diva thinks so — that’s good enough for me!

And a belated but heart-felt thanks to DD for whatever awards she has given me in the past!
