Stained, Old, but Beautiful

When my friend Belinda and I went to Navy Pier in Chicago a couple weeks ago, having never been there before I was pleasantly surprised.  Even though I had always heard people talk about going to Navy Pier, I had a picture in my mind of just a pier that went out into Lake Michigan.  Well, of course, it’s much more than that.  It’s really a version of a shopping mall, but with a children’s museum, a stained glass gallery and large halls when things like the annual flower show (which we had gone to see) can be held.

But today, I thought I would just share the pictures I took in the stained glass gallery.  Most of that display was old stained or etched glass.  All of it was just lovely.

I’ve never actually visited Navy Pier either. These stained glass pictures are just beautiful, though. Do they sell them, or are they just on display? I’m looking forward to more pictures from your trip.

Linda — I’m not sure, but I think it’s just a permanent display. I didn’t see any being sold. I’ll post more tomorrow. I was afraid I would have the same spacing issue, so that’s the reason I only did three. I got your e-mail with advice on the spacing issue and now I’m going to go in and see if that relates at all to my system. Thanks for the advice. 🙂

I love stained glass. These are beautiful! Do you know that I’ve been living in the Chi-town area for 12 years. In those years, I have only gone to Navy Pier twice and once I had to go because of my Grad School graduation. I have never taken my children downtown yet. Maybe we will put that down on our bucket list for the summer.

Wonderful colours and designs on these windows, Sandra. I love stained glass. It would be so nice to have a window in my home like that.

Amy — I definitely recommend seeing the sights downtown just like a tourist. 🙂

Hilary — I always thought I would love to have one too.
