He said, Me said

I was sitting in my chair in the bedroom, reading.  Hubby walked in with a mischievous look on his face.  I know this man well, so I felt a punch line coming.  So I put my book down and waited.

“When did you make that cake in the fridge?”

“Wow!  That’s what I thought.  Where did it all go?!”

“Linda dropped me off after lunch, and I gave her half of it to take home for her and Doug.”

“Oh.  I just wondered.”

I smiled.  He smiled back and strolled out.

As I went back to reading I was still smiling because, obviously, Hubby was suggesting that maybe I had eaten half a cake!

I love it that he still, after all these years, doesn’t doubt that I can do things that will surprise him!  But I’m just glad that this time he was giving me too much credit.

Ha ha ha…I can imagine us having this same conversation. Especially if it was brownies (in which case I might really have eaten half the batch….)

  2. Hilary says:

I take it that Linda will concur with your story. 😉

  3. Linda says:

    Cake? What cake?

  4. Sandra says:

Beth — I love brownies too, but at least they are usually in a square pan. This was a 9×13 p an! And I’m not young and running 21K’s like you to use up lots of calories!

Hilary and Linda — Ha Ha, very funny. Both of you report to the principal’s office after school for detention you little scamps. 🙂

  5. Linda says:

Sorry. I couldn’t resist after reading Hilary’s comment. The cake is delicious, but I feel a little guilty about taking so much now, after seeing your Hubby’s disappointment. 🙂

  6. Sandra says:

Don’t worry about him, Linda. He got plenty and today I made apple crisp so he’s all set. 🙂

You’re a better gal than I am. We simply won’t discuss the pan of fudge that Joe made me for Valentine’s Day (I’d rather have it than Godiva).

  8. Sandra says:

That doesn’t count, Carla. Because it was a GIFT! So you should have eaten all of it you like. 🙂 (I LOVE fudge too.)

  9. Mary Bowlin says:

I love it that he was so thoughtful in saying..what happened to it…at least he didn’t say…so, you ate half the cake for lunch? 🙂 🙂

  10. Sandra says:

    Mary — Yeah, “thoughtful”. 🙂
