Is the big Blast past?

Well, we have been very fortunate, so far.  In the last few days we got alot of snow, then we got freezing rain and then we got some pretty high winds.  A fortunate sequence of events.  The freezing rain on top of the “lots of snow” kept the high winds from doing too much of what they do best — create blizzard conditions including drifting.

So, yes we have about a foot of snow in our area.  And yes, it was a little unnerving when the freezing rain hitting the windows in our bedroom night before last was so hard that I had trouble sleeping over the racket.  But this could have been soooo much worse.  Right now it looks like things are returning to normal, just a “normal” that includes having to deal with lots of snow all around you.

Huh.  But now they say there may be another storm coming.  I hope they’re wrong.

I have always been someone who revels in the four seasons, enjoying each one in its own time.  But this year I think even a Winter-lover like me has just about had her fill of it and I am especially anxious for the first signs of Spring.

Stay safe and warm.  If it hasn’t already, this big Blast of winter will pass too.  And just think how much we will look back fondly on this cold weather when we have the inevitable sweltering days of Summer.

I’m looking forward to the first lilac and tulip bloom.

Ah, but think of the fun we’ll have reminiscing about the Big Winter Storm of ’11. Hmmm. It just doesn’t have the same ring as “the blizzard of ’78.” I do look forward to spring, though, with the greening up of the grass and trees and the glorious colors and sweet fragrances of the flowers.

the big blast is still sitting on us. a week of temps in the 20s and 30s. this is not why I live in the south! they are saying it will snow tonight and tomorrow. usually it snows about every five years here. it snowed last winter and the winter before…totally unprecedented, two years in a row and now they are saying snow this year. three years in a row! give me back my regular winters!

thanks for visiting me and for the great comment.

It’s been a long one, hasn’t it!! I’m with you, I look forward to the first sign of spring!

    Amen, Linda. Come on, Spring!

Ellen — Our son now lives in Oklahoma so I notice the weather in your part of the country more now. Wow! You really have gotten it this year. Maybe this will be the last year for a while and you will be able to go back to feeling superior to those of us up here in the frozen tundra who don’t think it’s Winter unless we get some of this! 🙂

    Amen, Chrissy. 🙂

ah well, the weathermen all pick guesses out of a hat anyway i think. i figure we’ll know the weather when it happens.

thanks for stopping by my place for my POTW. keep warm:)

I am enjoying the warmth before another cold front comes later this week. Our unseasonably cold weather last week just made me VERY thankful to live in a place that’s usually pretty warm!

Beth — Gunny and his family live in Tulsa and I think are getting alot of the same weather you are. It’s also unusual for them. They didn’t have school all last week, nor today and they are expecting another storm in a couple days too! Yes, you ARE fortunate to live in a fairly warm climate. :0
