Two years ago my friend Candy and I had a garage sale at her house and I posted about it here. And we called that garage sale our final one — we would never go to that much work again. And, besides, we were now rid of all our junk, right? And we certainly weren’t going to buy anything we didn’t absolutely need any more, so we just wouldn’t have anything to sell at another one! Right?
Well, never say never. Tomorrow and Saturday we’re having another one — this time at my house. Either there are a significant number of items we “missed” two years ago, or we have, in fact, done some ill-advised buying in the last two years, because we’ve found more “stuff” to sell.
If you live in the area, be sure to stop in. That is the most fun part of having a garage sale — getting to visit with the people who come to buy our “stuff”!

I love garage sales.. both attending and hosting. We have a street sale every year (same day as our street party). I don’t always get involved in it but it looks like this year I ought to. You’re right .. the best part is the social aspect. It’s a fun albeit tiring day. Good luck and do enjoy. 🙂
Well, thank you, Candy. I’m glad you like it. I couldn’t remember if you said you still had the one we used last time or not, so I made another one. I’ll attach balloons to it too to make SURE they know we’re participating! 🙂

Good for you! We used to have garage sales when I was a kid, and it was fun. These days I just Freecycle stuff. Much easier. 🙂

I have said so many times “Ill never have a yard sale again, due to all the hard work, long hours of preparation and piddling profit! Last time I had one here out in the country, I gave most of the stuff away to my last customer. Saved me from hauling it off! Good luck on YOUR sale!
Beth — I’m sure Freecycle is a more efficient way of getting rid of your “stuff” — but you can’t beat a garage sales for fun! 🙂

Vicki — Is it time for you and C to make a road trip to Indiana yet? As a t-shirt that Hubby used to have said(along with a picture of a jail cell), “Three hots and a cot!” We could do that — only I WOULD try to lean more toward a bed and breakfast, rather than a jail! 🙂
It doesn’t sound like your experience with garage saling was worth it. That’s too bad because it really is a lot of work to set it all up. I fine having a successful garage sale an “inexact science” — depending on neighborhood, weather, time of year, etc. But when it works, like yesterday, it’s fun.
