Honoring an Ultimate “Laborer” on Labor Day

I know that this is a post more appropriate for Memorial Day than Labor Day, but I just saw the father of a fallen Marine interviewed on TV (because of the appalling release by a news organization of a picture of his son dying) and I was so touched by the type of young man he described.

So, while I do want to take the time today to tell all of you who are working how much I appreciate what you do, because you are the vital “cogs” that keep our economy running, I also have to just take a minute to honor a young man whose “job” was to keep us safe, and the fact that he, and many others like him, have given up their lives to protect us so that we can work, love, live  and worship in a free society.

So, on this Labor Day, thank you to you, workers, for working to keep our country running, and to our military for working to keep our country free.

It’s nice to see someone that has respect for the men and women in the military. They go through so much to preserve our rights and freedoms and I think as citizens we should appreciate that.

    Very touching post.

    Hilary — Thank you.

Bridgeline — I hope that I would be as passionate about this as I am, even if our son hadn’t retired after a 20-year career in the Marines. We really do need to let them know they are appreciated.

A lovely tribute to an American hero. How can those newsmen sleep at night after doing that?
