I believe in the power of prayer!

In just our close family we have had two very serious surgeries recently for brain tumors.

Jon, the beloved husband of our niece Julie, had surgery to remove a benign brain tumor a month ago, and now has had to have another extensive surgery last week because of infection.

And two weeks ago, Cooper, the beautiful, energetic  two year old son of our nephew Justin, was found to have a tumor at the base of his skull.  He had 10 hours of surgery to remove it and while it was cancerous it appears they got it all.

I am very thankful that both Jon and Cooper are in large metropolitan areas where there are many doctors and medical facilities at their disposal.  But, I (and they) also know that prayer is the most powerful medicine of all.

So, on this Sunday, I ask you to include our loved ones, Jon and Cooper, in your prayers.

Thank you, friends.

I’m sorry to hear about such trying times in your family, Sandra. I’m sending my very best thoughts your family’s way.

My cousin’s son had a brain stem tumor operated on when he was 3 and again about 3 years later. It was benign but very entwined, so not all of it was removed. He’s since also had some radiation to reduce it and has been doing extremely well ever since. He’s now 20 and is a very independent young adult. I’m wishing the same and more for your dear Cooper.

    Hugs to you, my friend.

This one struck close to home, Sandy. As you know, our son-in-law, Beth’s husband, had major brain surgery a few years ago. I pray this morning for both of them to be touched by God’s healing power and for their families to experience His grace.

  3. Linda says:

Sandy, I didn’t know about this! I prayed for both Jon and Cooper as soon as I read your post. I pray that Jon’s infection is under control and that he’ll soon be back to full health. And may little Cooper’s cancer truly be totally removed and may he remain cancer free. And may the Lord give His peace to all those who love Jon and Cooper during these hard days.

  4. C says:

Oh, my. Of course you have our prayers. C

  5. Amy O says:

It is done! God Bless both of them and their families during their recovery. May they feel his loving and healing hands. Amen

  6. Janet Ruth says:

Dear friend, we hold up your entire family in prayer this morning. May God’s healing touch be evident even today.

  7. Sandra says:

Thank you so much. Hilary. I’m glad to hear your cousin’s son is doing so well. When something like this happens, it really is uplifting to hear success stories of others who have had similar problems.

Sam — It is comforting to think of Beth’s husband and how well he came through something similar. And thank you so much for your prayers, friend.

Linda — Since we haven’t been able to spend much time together recently, I guess I just didn’t think to tell you about all this when we DID get a chance to talk. I know you well enough to know what a “prayer warrior” you are, so I know I don’t have to ask you to keep on praying! Thank you, friend.

    Thank you so much, C.

Amy — Thank you. I know you are a prayer warrior too.

  8. Sandra says:

Thank you, so much Janet Ruth.

  9. Julie says:

Thank you for posting this Aunt Sandy! We appreciate all of the prayers for Jon and we are also continuing to pray for little Cooper. God is good ALL the time! (Actually, Jon’s surgery is scheduled for tomorrow, Aug. 31, at noon) We are hoping and praying all goes well. I’ll try to let you know how everything went.
Thank you for passing along these prayer requests through your blog!
    We love you,
    Julie

  10. Sandra says:

Julie — We love you and are praying for a speedy and complete recovery for Jon! Love, Aunt Sandy

  11. C. Beth says:

As my dad said, this one strikes close to home! I definitely am praying. I know how overwhelming this time can be. I pray they’ll recover fully, just like my husband has!

  12. Sandra says:

Beth — I imagine it is reassuring to Julie to hear that your husband too went through this and came out of it fine! Thank you for your prayers.

  13. Julie says:

    Hi Aunt Sandy!
Jon’s surgery went well. He has a lot of pain and some swelling… both are to be expected after surgery. He’s still in the hospital. I’m not sure when he’ll be able to come home, maybe today or tomorrow.
It is reassuring to know that Beth’s husband went through this too and had a full recovery.
We would appreciate your continued prayers for a full and complete recovery!
    Much love to you,
    Julie

  14. Sandra says:

Julie — I am so glad things went well. Of course, we’ll continue to pray for Jon’s complete recovery. Please give him our love. Aunt Sandy
