God Blessed Us with the Ability to Laugh!

A friend recently sent me a collection of inadvertent humor from church bulletins.  Here are some of my favorites from the list:

The Fasting & Prayer Conference includes meals.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
The sermon this morning: ‘Jesus Walks on the Water.’ The sermon tonight: ‘Searching for Jesus.’
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Ladies, don’t forget the rummage sale. It’s a chance to get rid of those things not worth keeping around the house. Bring your husbands.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Low Self Esteem Support Group will meet Thursday at 7 PM. Please use the back door.
———— ——— ——— ——— —–

The peacemaking meeting scheduled for today has been canceled due to a conflict.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
Don’t let worry kill you off – let the Church help.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ———
Miss Charlene Mason sang ‘I Will Not Pass This Way Again,’ giving obvious pleasure to the congregation.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
For those of you who have children and don’t know it, we have a nursery downstairs.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir.  They need all the help they can get.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –
The Rector will preach his farewell message, after which the choir will sing: ‘Break Forth Into Joy.’
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ———
At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be ‘What Is Hell?’  Come early and listen to our choir practice.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ———
Eight new choir robes are currently needed due to the addition of several new members and to the deterioration of some older ones.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ———
Weight Watchers will meet at 7 PM at the First Presbyterian Church.  Please use the large double doors at the side entrance.
———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

And, here’s my own piece of inadvertent humor — I didn’t intentionally make the quote about husbands bigger than the rest.  I’m just not very good at transferring info from e-mails to posts!

May God bless your Sunday with lots of reasons to smile or laugh.

It may have something to do with my personal experience, but I especially enjoyed the last one!

  2. Sandra says:

    Me too, Linda! 🙂

  3. C says:

We may as well laugh as cry! I loved these. Our church uses overheads for song lyrics, and I recall the time the person in charge of that job had transcribed a hymn beseeching the Lord: “Take not your holy presents from me…” I heartily agreed–I need all of Gods’ presents I can get!

  4. Sandra says:

C — I love it! And, unfortunately, it could happen to any of us. 🙂

  5. Brilliant! Those made me laugh so hard – some I’ve seen before, but mostly not. I think the ‘peacemaking’ one is my favourite.

  6. Sandra says:

Rachel — I laughed out loud at all of these, even though I had seen some of them before too. I’m glad you enjoyed them too. 🙂

  7. Hilary says:

Like you, I’ve seen them before.. and also like you, I had a great laugh. Thanks for that. 🙂

  8. Sleepless in OL says:

I liked the rummage sale the best 🙂 Not that I would want to sell my husband off mind you but it is one of those things that can be used to keep the opening of the car door alive. Like one of your earlier posts when you said you introduce your Hubby as my first, I do that too on occasion just to make sure he is listening.

  9. Sandra says:

Hilary — I’m glad they gave you a laugh. 🙂

Sleepless — I love the “keep the opening of the car door alive”. We really do have to keep them on their toes, don’t we? 😉

  10. Margaret says:

Thank you! I needed the big laughs I got out of reading these, I don’t think I’ve seen any them and by the end I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard!!! xD It’s been awhile since I had such a great laugh…

  11. Sandra says:

Margaret — I’m so glad you got a kick out of these. As far as I’m concerned, nothing is funnier than a goof made when someone isn’t TRYING to be funny! I just read through them again, and even though I’ve read them many times now, they still make me smile! 🙂
