It’s Hard to Look Away from a “Wreck”

When the subject of blogging comes up with friends I sometimes try to tell them about  “Cake Wrecks”, a blog on my blog roll that I really enjoy.  But, when I start describing it, it is just hard to explain how pictures of unusual, ugly, sometimes gross or just plain dumb cakes (almost all done by commercial bakers) can be so entertaining.  Part of the reason is that Jen, the creator of that blog, is hilarious with her commentary on the cakes she shows.

Here’s my totally inadequate description of what Cake Wrecks is all about:  She tells her readers to send her pictures of cake disasters they have encountered (she says the marked-down table in grocery store bakeries is a good place to look) and then she posts the pictures and writes really funny comments about them.

When I was looking at this post recently, I thought, “You just can’t describe this kind of stuff to people .. they have to see it!”.  So, I suggest you take a look at Cake Wrecks.  I predict you will really enjoy it.

Oh, and about once a week, she has some really beautiful or clever cakes on too.

Just like a traffic accident, sometimes these Cake Wrecks are so bad, you feel like you should just look away, but there is a morbid fascination that compells you to slow down and look anyway.

I wanted to let you know that you are definitely going to want to read my blog post today since I quoted you. You’re practically famous. 😉

Well when you tell me to check out a blog, I listen. And I’m glad I did. Cake Wrecks is now on my list of must-see blogs. Thanks, Sandra. 🙂

Beth — I am honored that you chose to quote me on your post yesterday. It makes blogging feel so “right” when we can share information and inspiration, doesn’t it?

I vow someday we WILL have that cup of coffee! 🙂

Hilary — I’m glad you trusted my judgement on this one. It’s such a fun stop, isn’t it? But let me warn you –it soon becomes a MUST stop every day — addictive, but in a good way. 🙂

Why is it people are so much more interested in wrecks than in totally awesome things that are slightly weird? (like the contents of my blog). I’ve been trying to figure out lately why cakewrecks and fmylife and notalwaysright and stuff like that are so cool! (I like them too though they stress me out)
