DD and Coco, Home Safe From Venice!

dd-and-coco .

Our Daughter Divine and her oldest daughter, 11 year old Coco, went to Venice for spring break.

As the time to leave neared, DD was having some reservations, wondering if she had bitten off more than she could chew with such a big trip.  But, she overcame her fears, which she has always been very good at, and went.

And they had a fantastic time.

She posted multiple times while they were there, but couldn’t add in the pictures until she returned home.  So, she has now added the pictures, and it was fun to go back and look at them, as well as re-read her Venice posts.  She always has an interesting, almost always funny take on things, even when they go bad.

Now that they are home, my guess is that DD will enjoy telling the story of  their first day in Venice many times, even though at the time it was an awful experience!

(Note to Mothers:  Probably not a good idea to see the movie Taken, as I did,  right before your daughter and granddaughter go on a trip to Europe alone!  In that movie, young women tourists are kidnapped and sold into white slavery! )

Thank you God for bringing them home safe.

I so enjoyed reading J’s post. The pictures were beautiful and the one of the guy in the red jumper was a scream. It really made my day.
As always J looks a dream, I take my hat off to her…
And yes…Taken….fantastic movie that every young girl needs to see before they travel alone or with friends…never in a million years would you guess that the young guy sharing a taxi with them was part of a human traffic ring….

Danielle — Well, if you saw the movie, you KNOW what I’m talking about! At the time when we saw it, it didn’t occur to me to connect it with J’s trip, but when the time came for them to leave, that movie popped back into my mind, and gave me a little case of cold sweats! I was really glad they had a good time, but I was also reallllly glad when they got home!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of her posts and loved them even more when I went back yesterday and read them with pictures! Made me want to pack up and head for Europe! I haven’t seen “Taken”, but friends have and from what I’ve heard, I can only imagine the fears you must have had! Glad they made it back safe and sound!

ElleBee — It really was unfortunate that I had seen “Taken” — it made me a little anxious while they were over there. But, now that it’s over, I’m glad they got to take such a great trip together! 🙂

  5. Wow! That sounds like an intense film! Glad they were able to make some lifelong memories and arrive home safely…

HPKT — It WAS an intense film, that I should NEVER have seen right before DD’s trip.

But, the trip apparently went fine, except for the bumpy first day, and DD said afterward that it was really her travel agent’s fault that things happened the way they did. If a TA books you on a long, overseas flight, why would they get you there at 9 am and not think about the fact that you couldn’t check into your hotel for at least two hours! Oh well, other than that, it went fine and they DID make some lifelong memories together.
