“Lost” Isn’t Just a TV Series . . .

. . . it is also what happened a.l.l  t.h.e  t.i.m.e to my keys in the big bag I bought  for this winter!

p10009261   This is the largest bag I have carried in many years.  When I went out looking for one last Fall, I wasn’t looking for one this big, but when I saw it I liked the idea of being able to carry things like an umbrella or camera in it.  So, it’s the one I chose.

p100092811     But soon after I started using the new bag, I realized there was a problem … with my keys … in a very large, very dark (lined in black) bag.  There is a small pocket just inside the bag that I found fit my keys perfectly, and as long as I put them in that little pocket, I could readily find them.  But, if I was in a rush and happened to miss the little pocket and they dropped into the “great abyss”, it took me forever to find them the next time I needed them!

p100093511   So, when I saw this wonderful little invention on a jewelry counter (for less than $10!), I knew it was exactly what I needed.

p10009281   It attached to my key ring and gave me a hook to use to hang the keys on the edge of the bag.

p100093711  Now, I can hang my keys anywhere around the edge of my bag, and all I have to do is look for this little heart to know immediately where to locate my keys.  It came in a wide variety of colors and styles, but I picked the silver heart because it is “generic” enough that it will be able to be used with just about any bag that needs it in the future.

I love it when some little invention solves a problem for me.  My heartfelt thanks go to the person who invented this clever little item that is making my life easier.

The lost have been found!

My mom has one of those! They are so neat!

  2. Julie says:

Where did you get that? I need one of those! I have a big bag too, to carry a few diapers and wipes when we are on the go, and I seem to lose my keys often as well. I’ve been putting my keys in my coat pocket, but would prefer to keep them in my bag.
Thanks for the post! Have a great week, Aunt Sandy!
    Julie : )

  3. What a great little keychain! Perfect 🙂

  4. Sandra says:

Beth — I think so too! (And great [mom’s] minds work alike!)

Julie — I’m not sure where I found it. But, if I find them again, I’ll send you one! Love, Aunt Sandy

    Lynn — That’s exactly what I think — perfect!

  5. Hilary says:

Sounds and sure looks like a great idea. Does it not just slip off the edge though?

Nice purse too, Sandra. I’m still on the lookout for one that I like which will be large enough to carry my camera comfortably.

  6. Sandra says:

Hilary — It is designed in such a way that the keys are really very secure. It’s narrow enough and the keys hanging down inside the purse are heavy enough that they stay exactly where I put them.

Someone asked me if I was worried that it made it easy for my keys to be stolen, but, honestly, they “hold on” well enough that I don’t think snatching them would be easy at all. Also, because the hook is silver and the trim on the purse is the same, I don’t think it’s too noticable, and if it is noticed, I’m not sure it’s obvious what it is. So, all in all — perfect!

  7. That is very cool! Love it.
