Grandchildren are . . .

. . . the frosting on the cake!

When we got to Chicago Friday afternoon, we called DD to tell her we were in town and offer to pick Mimi up at daycare, which we have done before and don’t mind at all.  And we can do this because we know the password.  But I can’t tell it to you because then I’d have to kill you, because it’s that secret. (smile)

p10004951  Papa went in to get Mimi while I waited in the car … and waited … and waited … (it seems like forever when you’re the one waiting in the car, doesn’t it?)

p10004961  and finally they came out with Mimi giving me her “homecoming queen” wave.

p10004971   If there is anything better in the whole world than being greeted by a child with a smile, I don’t know what it is.

I just didn’t have my camera ready at the right times to get good pictures of Coco and Lulu this time we were there, so here are just some quick snaps I got of them.

p1000510   Lulu coming home from school after being dropped off by the bus.

p1000555   It’s a little boring to go to an all-day volleyball tournament you aren’t even playing in.

p1000590   In fact, even those competing, have down times during the day.

p10005411   Coco’s team didn’t win the tournament, but they did very well.

p1000513  Our Mimi is always ready to smile for the camera, so I did get a few pictures of her.

p10005242   In the car …

p1000569  in the bleachers at the volleyball tournament …

p10005001   and holding her new kitten, Cinderella.

I got a shot of DD in the car I really liked too, although I do wish she’d keep her eyes on the road while she’s driving, instead of looking at her dad when she’s talking to him! … says the “back-seat driver.”

We enjoyed our weekend with them.

What a happy family. The kids are adorable!

  2. Sandra says:

Thank you, ces. Of course, they are beautiful to us. Thank you for stopping by.

  3. Hilary says:

Such a lovely family, Sandra. But it’s a shame that Mimi doesn’t like to be photographed. If ONLY she would ham it up for the camera a bit. 😉

  4. ElleBee says:

Great pics! Jenny and the girls are lucky to have you guys not too far away! 🙂

  5. Sandra says:

Hilary — Yes, if ONLY! 🙂

ElleBee — Welll, some people would say they are “far away” at 4 hours, but in comparison to the 11 hours to Tulsa, they are verrrry close! And, we are thankful for that.

  6. Julie says:

Thanks for sharing the pictures of Jenny and the girls. They look like they are growing up so fast. I’m glad you were able to spend some time with them. Have a great Valentine’s Day weekend! Is Uncle ‘Hubby’ going to take you out tomorrow night?

  7. You are a walking advertisement for being a grandma! I hope I get my turn one day 🙂 Beautiful family, Sandra. Thanks for sharing. And also, thanks for coming by my blog; if you have any good Weight Watchers recipes, please share! I think I’m having a little too much fun with butter these days ;o

  8. Sandra says:

Julie — Yes, Hubby is taking me out for dinner tonight. And, he bought a very small box of deBrand chocolates for us to share. He’s a good “Valentine.” Hope you have a great one too! 🙂

Lynn — Thank you, I take that as a wonderful compliment. I have to say, that both of our mothers were wonderful grandmothers, so I have had great examples to follow. I’ll be in touch with some suggestions for recipes from WW.

  9. Amy O says:

I love the pictures. Mimi does always have that infectious smile. I love it. Good picture of DD. I hope next time you are in town, we can meet.

  10. Sandra says:

Amy — I would love to meet you, but finding the time is the problem. The weekend goes so fast! We’ll make it one of these days though. 🙂
