. . . and that’s how I learned about blogs I had never heard of before!
One of the most recent I’ve found is 2nd Cup of Coffee. The author had left an interesting comment on the Macromoments blog that is on my blog roll. So, I then visited 2nd Cup of Coffee and found out that it was not only an interesting blog, but that she is an Indiana blogger. I don’t “meet” many of those! And, by the way, while I was there, I loved this post of a video of a (beautiful calico) cat “using” a printer. It’s very funny.
I have read some really interesting blogs by “surfing” from blog roll to blog roll. Sometime, if you have a little extra time, you might want to try it.
You can start by just picking a blog from my blog roll to visit. Then, after looking around there, pick a blog from that person’s blog roll. And you can go on like that for as long as you have time. It really is a little addictive.
Two things amaze me about doing this. First, how quickly I might end up on a blog from England, or Australia, or Finland, or India! It’s not hard to find ones that are very unique and intriguing.
Secondly, I occasionally find my blog on the blog roll of a blog I’m not familiar with! I know that’s not anything that would recommend a certain blog to you, but it is reallllly a nice surprise for me!
The world of blogging and bloggers is such an interesting one.

I had seen the “copy cat” video before, but it IS hilarious. And what a beautiful cat.
I’ve done a little of the blot-to-blog thing, but not as much as you have. I’m afraid of getting too addicted to blog reading. And, since I don’t have one myself, I’ll likely not find myself on anyone else’s blogroll. But where did you find a blog from Finland? I speak a little Finn, you know!
Oh my, and I proofread that comment, too. That should be “blog-to-blog” not “blot-to-blog,” although the latter does have an interesting ring to it.
Linda — That is one of the problems with doing that — unless you write down the “path” to a blog you enjoy, you may never find it again! The one from Finland was months ago, and I have no idea how I got there. Sorry. 😦
What I’ve found it a little “internet family”. When I go from blog-to-recommended-blog-to -recommended-blog, etc, you find so many of the same names that they start feeling like family. We have one girl that is on Sam’s, Beth’s, son-in-law, D’s, and maybe yours – not sure. She and family are moving to another country soon and I haven’t seen her comments recently. I asked Sam this morning about her – had he seen her comments? He thought so, but not sure and he reminded me she was going away on a 2-wk (or so) trip! You’d think she was family! I miss her! Great fun! There’s another guy that’s on all the above and yours and now on my other daughter’s new blog! And he’s from England. Really a small world with the internet!
We’re leaving tomorrow for a trip to NM – I’ll probably check email and blogs some, but not as much, so “see you” when we return!
Cathy — It does have alot of the traits of a family, doesn’t it? And, in many of the best ways! I’m so glad I joined this community — so many neat people, and so many interesting stories!

On Blogger there is an option at the top of the blog to click “Next Blog,” and a blog that has just been updated will pop up. Most are ones that are totally uninteresting, but I have found a couple that ended up on my blog roll. Michelle Brunner, for instance, does really cute artwork, and I came across her randomly by clicking that “Next Blog” button. She gave me the idea for the art pen pal projects that we do on my blog, and she and I are frequent readers of each others’ blogs. Pretty neat!
Blog roll surfing sounds fun too!
Beth — I’ve seen the “Next Blog” but was never quite sure what that was about, so, of course, ignored it! Now that I know, I’ll look around that way too.
This reminds me of when our daughter went from a small Lutheran grade school, where she had known everyone in her class, and many in the other grades too, “forever,” to a high school of 2,000 kids. She said it was a sudden “smorgsbord” of new friends!
Now I know how she felt. Blogging has brought me a “smorgsbord” of new blogging friends! 🙂
I enjoy doing this, but I do it through the comments. I call it blog surfing 🙂 It is fun (even if i get lost sometimes! 🙂
Mrs4444 — Yes, remembering where you saw something is tough when you do this, isn’t it? I have read some really intersting blogs, that I wouldn’t be able to get back to, even if my life depended on it! A “smart woman” would write down how she got to the interesting ones, don’t you think? 🙂
