We LOVE a Punch Line In our Family!

If there is one theme that runs through our family, it is that we love humor.   Following are two examples from DD’s childhood that I ran across when looking through a folder of old correspondence.

First a card she made for me.  The front didn’t copy well, but she had written, “Do you know what I like about you Mom?”

On the inside she had used a fashion stamping kit we had given her (you talk about having a gift, turn on you!) to “complement” her original drawing.

At the bottom, in case you can’t read it, she has written, “Your easy to pick out of a crowd!”

Following is a copy of a postcard I wrote to her when she was away at camp in 7th or 8th grade:

So, I guess we can’t blame her for having an unusual sense of humor.  It runs in the family.

BTW, I realize now how tacky the postcard looks with the post-it note paper “whiting out” unnecessary information, but it has taken me a lonnnnng time to scan these and get them on this post, so I just don’t have the rest of the day to go back and fix that.  Bear with me — I’m still learning!

Happy Wednesday!  May we all look for the humor in our day.  It is sometimes a wonderful “fix” for what “ails” us.

I love the postcard! Your family must have been a blast! We laughed a lot in my family too growing up. My dad used to hide out in the woods and wear a werewolf mask and shine a flashlight on his face. When my husband came out to Virginia to meet my family after we got engaged he saw a dim light out in the distance and said, “What is thaaat?” “Oh, it’s just my dad.” Thanks for commenting on my blog today!

Kazzy — It sounds like your family have a similar sense of humor to ours! Your dad must be a “hoot.”

Oh I had that fashion set as well. I spent so many hours changing the design around….

Love the postcard….LMAO…it would have brought a smile to her face I bet !

Hi, Belinda — Thanks for being a faithful reader. You have a good week too.

Danielle — I don’t know if SHE thought it was funny, but I’m sure I laughed alot while writing it!

I’ll be sure to point out to DD that while she was using that set to make FUN of her dear mother, DANIELLE was using them as intended! 🙂

  8. Hilary says:

That’s my kind of kid! Too funny.

  9. Sandra says:

Hilary — I sometimes am given credit for her sense of humor, but truly she has “left me in the dust” in that regard. She is truly a “wit,” and has been since she was a little kid.

  10. Cyndie says:

Yes, it is good to live in a family that enjoys the “finer” things in life – and can take and dish out a good teasing! It makes family gatherings so much fun.

  11. Sandra says:

You should know, Cyndie. Your signature giggle makes everything funny just seem that much funnier!
